These efforts helped us understand my users better, figuring out what they need, spotting potential opportunities, and suggesting solutions. The target users are likely vegans, vegetarians, health-conscious individuals, athletes, or anyone looking to cut down on supplements or unable to take them. This could include people at risk of nutritional deficiencies due to their diet or a medical condition. The opportunity here is providing a quick and easy way to test nutrient levels at home, along with a user-friendly app for health tracking and education. This led to a product proposition:
- A blood-based system
- Testing for micronutrient (vitamin and mineral) levels
- At-home testing
- Making it as pain-free and convenient as possible
- Integration with a user-friendly app
Colour, form, material research
Research was conducted to identify the prevailing trends within the target demographic. The incorporation of organic forms and a harmonious palette of colours serves to underscore the concept of well-being in a manner that feels inherently natural.
Overcoming limitations with user testing
Due to the restrictions imposed by Covid-19, traditional in-person user testing was rendered impossible. In response to this challenge, I explored innovative alternatives to comprehend users' preferences in terms of color and form, both within the context of their living spaces and in the palm of their hands, to scale. Leveraging Augmented Reality (AR) enabled me to facilitate remote user testing, empowering respondents to interact with the AR prototype and seamlessly share their experiences through screenshots.
Appearance prototyping
Following the refinements identified through AR testing, the device underwent further enhancements, leading to the creation of a more sophisticated and polished appearance prototype.
Scenario of use
1. Receive a timely notification from the vi+mi app when it's time for a test, utilising your health data to determine the schedule.
2. Detach the vi+mi from the base unit and seamlessly insert the necessary test cartridge.
3. Position your finger in the designated groove, then activate the microneedles by pressing the buttons.
4. Reconnect the vi+mi to the base unit for a thorough analysis of the obtained results.
5. Access results and personalised advice through the vi+mi app, offering insights to guide your food choices throughout the day.
