Data Visualisation Accessibility Dashboard Design
Problem
The InBudget platform needed visual and functional updates to improve usability, consistency, and data clarity. Key issues included difficulty scanning information, a confusing layout, and poorly positioned buttons. Milestone tracking also lacked structure, requiring a clearer timeline visualisation for better project oversight.
Outcome
The redesign enhanced key reporting pages, improving readability and ensuring alignment with InBudget’s Brand Guidelines. Optimised spacing and Gantt chart-style components provided clearer insights into milestones and project plans, making budgeting and forecasting more intuitive while streamlining workflows.
Process
We began with an audit to identify usability issues and explore solutions. Wireframing followed, refining layout, spacing, and the clarity of icons, buttons, and charts. A key improvement was introducing Gantt charts, offering a clearer visualisation of project timelines.
Challenges
Balancing data density with readability was a key challenge, ensuring key details remained visible without overcrowding. Another hurdle was working within a limited brand colour palette while maintaining contrast and accessibility for clear, distinguishable data points.
